Definitions:
Counselling - Counselling can be described as a process, which provides help and support and an understanding listener for someone who is concerned, confused or perplexed.

Mentoring - Mentoring is when a role model, or mentor, offers support to another person. A mentor has knowledge and experience in an area and shares it with the person being mentored. For example, an experienced teacher might mentor a student teacher or beginning teacher.

Coaching - Life Coaching is an on-going partnership that helps clients produce fulfilling results in their personal and professional lives. Through the process of coaching, clients deepen their learning, improve their performance and enhance their quality of life. Beginning with the clients’ desires, coaching uses reporting, exploring and a consistent commitment to move the client forward. Coaching accelerates the clients’ progress by providing greater focus and awareness of choice. Coaching concentrates on where clients are today and what they are willing to do to get where they want to be tomorrow. – ICF

This Month's Article ...

A Time to Dream

What do you want for your life?

Can you picture your dream?

What did you hope your life would look like when you were a small child?

Does your reality look anything like those aspirations today?

Are you happy with the life you're living or have you settled for the life that's shown up?

If you're like most people, much of your life is committed to supporting other people. Your spouse, children, boss, family members, friends and neighbours, just to name a few. While you undoubtedly care about everyone of these people, it's possible you frequently feel overtired, overscheduled and overwhelmed. (Sound familiar?)

In fact, while you probably appreciate and enjoy the life you're living, I'm willing to bet you sometimes wonder if 'this is all there is'.

Like many of the people I've worked with in my company, it's like you're juggling multiple responsibilities and struggling to manage the many tasks required by both your work and home lives.

This juggling act makes it easy to allow your dreams to sleep. I want to wake them up and invite them to come out to play. Before we can do that, you must begin to give voice to what the life of your dreams would look like.

That's what we're going to do this month!

To get started, schedule 15 to 20 minutes in your calendar this week. In that time, sit down in a quiet place, where you won't be interrupted and answer the questions from the beginning of this month's message.

Minimally, pay attention to your life this month. What makes you happy? What frustrates you? What satisfies you? What upsets you? When you consciously observe your day-to-day reality, you create an opportunity to clearly define what's working - and what's not. Once you've done that, you will be empowered to make positive changes in your life.

To your success,

Jo

"When my friend asked me if I would like to have a Life Coach, I jumped at the chance. I was at a time in my life when I was centring on the writings I needed to finish and get ready for publishing. I am a firm believer that when you vibrate out what you want, you attract them. I was certainly in need of a Life Coach and had already selected things I wanted to bring to fruition. I had recently been writing songs and had an albums worth plus other songs written and I had stories that had been waiting for some time to bring to the light.

It was a turning point in my life when I met Joanne. I was ready and had the desire to accomplish my goals. I filed in the forms Joanne had sent me and had a wonderful conversation with her. Her lovely voice and manner made it easy to get focused. After I learnt how to select and divide my goals into four categories and then itemize each step on the list I could see what needed to be done. I felt the excitement in knowing where I was going and how to do it.

Having a Life Coach meeting each week kept me to completing the steps I had set out to do. It became exciting. I also learnt how to mind map the goals and steps to keep them even more focused.

Since starting I have got a story polished and back from proof reading and ready to send to a publisher and started on others. I have been in the right place at the right time to find musicians to write the music for my songs and have a magazine who will review them when that is done.

I have found the exercise that suits me that I can keep to which is fusion dancing and have found an artist who will illustrate a children’s card set. I also have started to add to other work that has been requested to take ‘on the road’ for performances in the country when I fill them out a bit more.

All the nagging of family has not worked as much as having Joanne as my life coach to show me how to get the goals accomplished and enjoy doing it.

I am just a few weeks into it and have got more done in that time than I did all last year. I can whole heartedly recommend life coaching and especially from Joanne who you know truly cares and walks the journey with you."
